Andrea from Marine Megafauna Foundation is a marine biologist who discovered two species of manta ray. She has almost two decades of manta research behind her, and she was the first person in the world to earn a Ph.D. on manta rays. Andrea works to save manta rays by expanding protected areas in one of the most biodiverse regions of marine megafauna in all of Africa. She’s also one of Give One’s ocean heroes whose work we’re highlighting to celebrate World Ocean Month 2022. Despite being one of the ocean's most iconic animals, Manta rays are disappearing fast due to fishing pressure, climate change, and ocean pollution.
