A$AP Rocky personally chose to support the Miti Alliance led by environmentalist Michael Waiyaki, when he joined the Give One initiative on June 1. How? Through contributing to the creation of a tree museum.
The oceans need our help. We want to support the people making a real difference on the ground. Well, on the water. Now you can donate to impactful oceans projects from the Klarna checkout, the Klarna app, and this post. Let's meet the people your donations support.
We’ve partnered with the charity platform Milkywire to make giving back to the planet simple, transparent, and impactful. Their platform allows you to pick from a list of transformative projects that are helping our planet, and then follow how your donation is supporting their work through updates in the Milkywire app. Get involved, get clued in, get results.
Give One is the starting point of Klarna’s contributions to our planet’s health. We launched our new impact initiative on Earth Day 2021 for an ambitious beginning with an even more ambitious horizon. We’ve spent the last 15 years mastering the art of transforming complex problems into ingenious, impactful solutions. Can we apply what we have learned into making a tangible positive impact for the planet? We want to find out. Here’s what we’ve done so far:
We're on a mission to help you understand the CO₂ footprint of shopping and the impact it has on the planet. With the CO₂ emissions tool in the Klarna app, we're taking the guesswork out of calculating emissions so you always know the shape of your shopping footprint.
And finally, in our series of deep dives on ocean impacters, we meet Shaha Hasim from the Blue Marine Foundation. Only 1% of the water around Maldives is protected. Experts tell us that number should be 30% across the oceans. Shaha is working to expand marine protected areas and restore coral reefs. For a knock-on effect that supports life far beyond the fish in the sea.
This week we’re shining a light on the fantastic ocean work being funded by Klarna customers in celebration of World Oceans Day, June 8. Bohuslän on Sweden’s west coast is one of the most polluted places in Europe. Oceanic currents merge and drop 1000 liters of plastic there every hour. Klarna customers can now easily support Tomas Eriksson from Pelagiska, who is cleaning up the mess.
This week we want to introduce you to 3 ocean impacters Klarna customers can support through Give One. We’re kicking off with Luke Helmer from Blue Marine Foundation who’s working to restore the overexploited native oyster reefs along the coast of the UK. Did you know that 1 oyster can filter 200 liters of water per day? It’s no wonder that oysters are called the kidneys of the ocean.
We’re happy to have A$AP Rocky joining the Give One initiative. The artist, actor, and philanthropist is pledging 1% of his investment in Klarna to impactful climate and biodiversity projects.
